Middle school students enrolled in the Model making/Airbrushing class this quarter will be going to the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit on Octover 29, 2019. The class will gain a deeper understanding of the early automotive past of Detroit, in particular, Ford's history and the Model T. Students will be provided with information about the building, Henry Ford, and the history of the vehicles that were built within the walls in the Milwaukee Junction neighborhood.
The school program follows the Michigan Standards for Social Sciences and incorporates STEM/STEAM-based learning. The students will take a tour which will discuss the above-mentioned history, and we will have them look at the design aspects of early automobiles.
